Filled Under:

Naked- my new nano WIP

With Nanowrimo just around the corner, I've got to finish up my research and get into writing gear (but sometimes the prep is as much fun as writing-- see my cover below. I love it!) Two posts ago I talked about teen prostitution (Find the post Here ). It's such an amazing point of view and I've wanted to write a story about it for a while. So, now I'm finally going to write Anna's story:

Anna was Thirteen when she ran away from home and ended up on the streets. A young man named Andre became her only friend, and eventually her pimp.

On the streets, selling her body is normal-- expected. Three years and one police raid later Anna is sent back home. To the suburbs. Now 16 year old Anna is forced to fall back into her old life of soccer practice, homework and homecoming. But she can’t even pretend to be normal when everyone knows her secrets. The town whore has no friends.
Anna feels more naked now than she ever did as a prostitute.
Until Arney. He is the only person who gets her, and the only person who has any shot at stopping her from running back to the streets.

NAKED is an edgy mix of Sarah Dessen’s LOCK AND KEY and The Girl Next Door, and tells the mostly untold story of teen prostitution in the U.S.

What are you writing this year?

  1. That's a great cover and the premise sounds awesome. I already feel for this girl! Good luck with NaNoWriMo - can't wait to see how you do!

  2. I think your premise is absolutely fantastic. These are the types of girls that get dropped through the cracks. I hope the ending is promising and we get to see that girls like these need help and are not worthless as some may think.

I'm rooting for your finish next month.

  3. I wasn't planning on it, but I think I'm going to go all the way back and start with her running away. This way we'll see how she is pushed into prostitution, it's not something she chose. People don't really get that part. Thanks for the support. Can't wait to write it.
