My excuse is as follows:
*work*
*car that won't start *(still don't know why. Hoping its corroded cables to the battery and not the starter itself)
*revisions that took longer than expected*
*Writeoncon*
So yeah. I have off tomorrow so I'll make a goal of 5k to get on my way to catching up. And tonight I'll try for 2k. If I achieve that I'll have 13 days to write 18k. Its do-able guys. I. Can. Do. It.
~What I did accomplish this week: my MG is with betas. Yay!
~Got a full request for said MG thanks to wtiteoncon (yes, a request before its ready to query. Agent knows its in revisions and is cool with waiting)
~Decided on a title for my pirate WIP:
A Sea Of Treason
Which I came up with on my own but reminds me of this poem by DC Talk called There Is Treason At Sea which is freaking peferct.
I am solo in this world of water
Only the tip of a sunrise visible
Like the morning light in a little girl's eyes
I crave this freedom
I find it only in this little ship
Just my soul and this bread and buttler
I am comfortable
But there is a treason at sea
Is it me?
It is a wonder, supernatural cover of war
The dark ones who eternal in damnation grow
Set about me now
How they whine and crow
I am solo In this world of wet
And bittler is my temperament
I close the door to sentiment
And I relish all my youth
I realize that I am doomed
Fear of love and fear of you
But you give me the keys to paradise
It is you who sympathize
You and your perfection grow
I am cradled in your ocean's throw
I crave your freedom in this little ship
For you alone can chart my trip
And like these waves
I lose my grip
And I sink into your arms

Congratulations on the request!
ReplyDeleteI hope next week goes smoother for you.
That's a beautiful poem. Very inspiring. Good luck with the pirates!
Thanks!
DeleteThere needs to be more books about pirates, in my honest opinion.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, the words just don't come, there is no need to beat yourself up over it and no-one should get on your back either. Forcing words is never very productive because they will usually look forced and need to be reworked so you might as well wait until you are feeling up to it.
Good luck with your writing in the coming week and look forward to reading an excerpt at the next Check-In!
There can never be too many pirate stories :)
DeleteSometimes I do need to push myself because I won't get back into the swing of things until I start writing again, first few paragraphs might need work but usually it comes back quick. BUT there are definitely times that you just... can't. For me it was mostly about time and focusing on writing. Everything that distracted me was fairly important and worth my time, so at least there's that.
Thanks for the support!
Yay! Hurray for requests! And an MG pirate tale? I love it. Be sure to Tweet lots about the new MG blog and I'll be sure to give it a few shout-outs.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the writing this week!
Thanks! It's actually a YA pirate book (but a MG one would be awesome too). My last novel (in revisions) is a MG. I'd appreciate the blog support!
DeleteCongrats on your full request! :) Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteAh, don't feel bad! These weeks happen. I'm sure you can still reach your goals in the time left. :):) Well done on the request! Love the title you picked for your WIP. :)
